The Press Council of Kosovo (PCK) in its regular meeting reviewed a total of 13 complaints.
The PCK Assembly members decided to approve one of them, partially approve one, reject eight, declare two untreatable and declare one untimely.
The complaints concerned allegations of violations of certain chapters of the Kosovo Press Code, namely Chapter II – Reporting the Truth, Chapter IV – Right to Reply and Chapter VII – Privacy and Protection of Sources.
The PCK has approved Mehdi Sejdiu’s complaint against Paparaci.com for the article titled “TheKLA was also a terrorist organization, this is the comparison made by Besnik Bislimi’s former advisor, finding that Chapters II and IV of the Kosovo Press Code, which deal with reporting
the truth, namely the right to reply, have been violated.
The PCK has partially approved Termokos complaint against Gazetakosova.net for the article titled “Financial crisis hits Termokos – Workers without salaries, management distributes thousands of euros for marketing!”, finding that Chapter II of the Kosovo Press Code, which deals with reporting the truth, has been violated, but not Chapter IV, which deals with the right to reply, as the complaining party claims.
The PCK has not approved (rejected) Blinera Osmani’s complaint against Nacionale.com, Reporteri.net and Periskopi.com for the articles titled “Blinera Osmani, the Presidents sister, was licensed as a lawyer without meeting the conditions”;, “Vjosa Osmani’s sister was licensed as a
lawyer without meeting the conditions”; and “Documents: How did Blinera Osmani, the President’s sister, receive a lawyer’s license without meeting the conditions”; concluding that chapters II and VII of the Kosovo Press Code, which deal with reporting the truth, respectively privacy, were not violated, as claimed by the complaining party. The PCK has not approved (rejected) the complaint of Rilind Gërvalla against Reporteri.net for
the article entitled “”Geto out now!” – a war in RTK about who is the boss between Rilind Gërvalla and Hysen Hundozi”, finding that chapters II and IV of the Kosovo Press Code, which deal with reporting the truth, respectively the right to reply, have not been violated, as claimed by the complaining party. The PCK has not approved (rejected) the complaint of Blendina Hoxha against Klankosova.tv for the article entitled “Exclusive: This is the soldier from Drenas accused of rape in England, the British police speak for the Klan”, finding that chapters II and VII of the Kosovo Press Code,
which deal with reporting the truth, respectively privacy, have not been violated, as claimed by the complaining party.
The PCK has not approved (has rejected) the complaint of the Vetëvendosje Movement against Paparaci.com for the article entitled “‘Satire on the power of Vetëvendosje, ‘Logjikonomia’ is removed from Youtube”, finding that Chapter II of the Kosovo Press Code, which has to do with
reporting the truth, has not been violated, as the complaining party claims.
The PCK has not approved (has rejected) the complaint of the Vetëvendosje Movement against Nacionale.com for the article entitled “‘After the broadcast of ‘Logjikonomia’ which mocked the VV celebration for the victory of Peci in Mitrovica, the ‘Tëvë1’ channel is closed on Youtube”,
finding that Chapter II of the Kosovo Press Code, which has to do with reporting the truth, has not been violated, as the complaining party claims.
The PCK has not approved (has rejected) the complaint of the Vetëvendosje Movement against Periskopi.com for the article entitled “Strange: After the broadcast mocking the VV party in Mitrovica was published last night, the Logjikonomia channel on Youtube is closed”, finding that
there was no violation of Chapter II of the Kosovo Press Code, which deals with reporting the truth, as the complaining party claims.
The PCK has not approve (rejected) the complaint of the Vetëvendosje Movement against Jepize.com for the article entitled “‘After the channel featuring ‘Logjikonomia’ that made fun of the VV party in Mitrovica was closed, Kusari reacts: Worrying’”, finding that there was no
violation of Chapter II of the Kosovo Press Code, which deals with reporting the truth, as the complaining party claims.
The PCK has not approve (rejected) the complaint of Vetëvendosje Movement against Reporteri.net for the article titled “;The channel where Logjikonomia appears, which made fun of the VV party in Mitrovica, is closed, Kusari reacts: Worrying”;, concluding that Chapter II of
the Kosovo Press Code, which deals with reporting the truth, has not been violated, as the party claims.
The PCK has declared untreatable the complaint of Betim Lushtaku, represented by lawyer Agon Rrecaj, regarding the video titled “Betim Lushtaku, friend of the mayor of Skenderaj, Fadil Nura, partner with today’s arrested for espionage, Fatmir Sheholli”, since the video was not published
in a media outlet, but on a social network. The PCK does not have the authority to evaluate articles or videos published on social networks. The party can address its claims to the court or to the social network Facebook.
The PCK has declared untreatable the complaint of Bergita Curri against Insajderi.org for the article entitled “In the FI, University and private company – how did the forensic expert, Bergita Curri, accumulate suspicious assets and what is being investigated by the Prosecution?”, concluding that the media has made the necessary corrections within the article, but the PCK does not have the authority to order the media to take a specific action, as requested by the complaining party, namely to publish a separate article.
The PCK has declared untimely the complaint of E. T. against Sinjali.com for the article entitled “This is the owner of the car showroom in Çagllavica who was arrested for fraud, owed about 100 thousand euros to two people”. The article was published in 2022. The PCK instructs the party to address the media with a request to remove his name or to request such a thing from the court.
