

Press Council of Kosovo (PCK), represented by the Chair of the PCK, Brikenda Rexhepi and Public Relations Officer, Qerim Ondozi, is participating in the 4th Regional Meeting of Media Councils in Southeastern Europe and Turkey. The two-day meeting, entitled “Building Trust in the Media in Southeastern Europe: Supporting Journalism as a Public Good,” is being held in Ohrid, North Macedonia.
The event brought together representatives of self-regulatory bodies from the region, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, and Kosovo.
Representatives of the Press Council of Kosovo presented the institution’s main challenges and achievements, as part of a discussion on the current situation and developments in the field of media self-regulation in the region.
In addition to presentations from the respective councils, the conference also included lectures by international experts such as Prof. Laurence Dierickx (Belgium), who spoke about the challenges of information integrity in the era of artificial intelligence, and Aleksandar Manasiev, a journalist and trainer from North Macedonia, who addressed the impact of AI on journalism ethics at the local level.
The main topics of the conference include:
– Achievements and challenges of media councils in the region
– Regional campaign for public awareness on the role of self-regulation
– Financial sustainability of media councils
– The role of AI in journalism and media ethics
– Drafting and adoption of a joint statement of media councils.
This regional meeting is organized with the support of UNESCO and serves as a platform for the exchange of experiences and strategic coordination between self-regulatory bodies in the region.
