In an urgent online decision-making, members of the Press Council of Kosovo (PCK) have
\nstrongly condemned the statement of the Vice President of the Independent Media Commission,
\nDrita Morina, who, without any support in the IMC Code of Ethics, has announced the closure of
\nthe \u201cDebat Plus\u201d show on RTV Dukagjini.<\/p>\n
As media professionals, we believe that independent bodies should be very careful when
\nhandling SLAPP-type complaints against the media, especially when they are filed by exponents
\nof political parties.<\/p>\n
The PCK calls on the IMC to maintain its independence and judge fairly, in accordance with the
\nstandards of the IMC Code of Ethics. The PCK also calls on the members of the IMC to refrain
\nfrom reckless and unfounded statements about the quality of reporting in the country\u2019s media.<\/p>\n
Such alarmist and unfounded statements constitute direct pressure on freedom of expression and
\nmedia freedom.<\/p>\n
The PCK calls on other members of the IMC to publicly distance themselves from such
