Indeksonline becomes part of PCK

Press Council of Kosovo, on its meeting lead by Imer Mushkolaj, upheld two complaints filed by Youth Initiative for Human Rights against web portals Indeksonline and Koha in relation to the published comments, which contained unacceptable language.

The two portals immediately removed these comments and also apologized for publishing them. This occurred due to their inability to filter those comments on time.

PCK once again highlights the fact that the presence of hate speech in media is the responsibility of editorial offices. Therefore; it is required from editors to pay more attention and not to allow any kind of unacceptable language in media.

PCK also, upheld the complaint of Kujtim Isa against Bota Sot. The members of PCK decided to uphold the complaint, considering that the article lacks the reaction of the complainant, and reports false information. Therefore; the Board decided that Bota Sot violated Chapter II of Press Code of Kosovo. However, Bota Sot is willing to publish the reaction of the complainant as soon as they receive it.

Tahir Zeka filed a complaint against daily newspaper Zëri. After the investigations conducted by the Basic Prosecution in Peja, the name of Tahir Zekaj was found in the list. However, an investigation run by a special commission of the Ministry of Education, found out that only a certain number of diplomas was found to be dubious. Zëri has expressed its readiness to publish the reaction of Tahir Zekaj. However, due to some technical problems, Zëri did not receive the e-mail containing the reaction.

Press Council of Kosovo considered reasonable the request of the complainant to publish the reaction, whereas Zëri will publish the reaction.

Today, news portal Indeksonline became member of Press Council of Kosovo.
