The Press Council of Kosovo (PCK) is a self-regulatory body established for and by the print media sector. Its mission is based on the beliefs of the Kosovo Press Code.
The PCK was established with the help of the OSCE in Kosovo in September 2005, while the PCK office started regular activities in December 2005.
Freedom of speech, the right of citizens to be fully and timely informed and full respect for the code of journalistic ethics are the foundations on which the PCK functions. The goal of PCK is to protect citizens from false content and to protect journalists from unfounded complaints.
The Press Council of Kosovo currently has around 50 regular members, online media and news agencies. The Assembly of PCK members consists of representatives of online media (news portals) and news agencies.
The strategy of PCK focuses on strengthening compliance with the Kosovo Press Code, educating new generations of journalists and journalism students about the principles of the Code…, with the aim of ensuring the right of citizens to be accurately and timely informed.
