Discussion on the self-sustainability of the Press Council

In order to review the possibilities and mechanisms for strengthening the institutional and
financial self-sustainability of the Press Council OF Kosovo (PCK), a meeting of the PCK with
stakeholders and institutional partners was held in Prishtina.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Department of Journalism of the University of Prishtina (UP), the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, the Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) and the Independent Media Commission (IMC).

During the meeting, the issue of KPC’s self-sustainability was discussed, with a focus on
identifying possible financing models and strengthening institutional capacities. Participants
reviewed the possibilities of securing income through regular membership fees, support for
operational costs, as well as other forms of support that would contribute to the long-term and
sustainable functioning of the KPC.

The meeting was considered an important step towards creating a sustainable financial model
and strengthening the role of media self-regulation in Kosovo.

The meeting was organized with the support of UNESCO, within the framework of the project
“Building Trust in the Media in Southeast Europe: Support for Journalism as a Public Good”
funded by the European Union.
