Published research “Journalism Under Economic, Political and Digital Pressure – The Future of Media in Kosovo”

The research “Journalism Under Economic, Political and Digital Pressure – The Future of Media in Kosovo”, carried out as part of the regional project “Our Media”, was published.

The research examines how the country’s media landscape is perceived by those who live and work in it, citizens, journalists and media experts.

The research goes beyond statistical indicators, recording perceptions of freedom, trust and responsibility in everyday media practice.

The results show a media sector that remains formally free but structurally fragile, where economic dependence, political rhetoric and digital competition continue to undermine journalistic independence and the quality of media content.

Building on the basic findings of the “Future of Media in Kosovo” study, the research highlights how declining trust, violation of ethical principles and growing political hostility are reshaping the role of journalism and the public’s trust in it.

This dynamic is taking place in an increasingly polarized society, where political divisions and competing narratives influence both the production of news and the way citizens interpret it.
