The Press Council of Kosovo (PCK) expresses concern over the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) not to accredit teams of some media houses, which are members of this self-regulatory body, for the elections of the 12. october. CEC has not accredited several Albanian and Serbian language media .
The PCK considers this decision unacceptable and harmful to media freedom and fair and transparent information on election day.
Member media of the Press Council meet all criteria established for media activity. Also, the Office for Registration, Verification and Financial Control of Political Entities assessed that the requested documentation was neat.
The Council calls on the Election Complaint and Appeal Panel (ECAP) to make a meritorious decision on this issue, in order to treat all media equally.
