The Press Council of Kosovo (PCK) in its regular meeting reviewed a total of 8 complaints. The members of the PCK Assembly decided to approve three of them, partially approve one, reject two and declare two complaints inadmissible.
The complaints concerned allegations of violations of certain chapters of the Kosovo Press Code, namely Chapter II – Reporting the Truth, Chapter IV – Right to Reply, Chapter V – Persons Involved in Incidents, Accidents, Arrested or Accused of Criminal Offenses, Chapter VI – Handling of Personal Tragedies, Protection of Children and Minors and Chapter VII – Privacy and Protection of Sources.
The Press Council of Kosovo has approved the complaint of Nasuf Hasani against Insajderi.org for the article titled “The ‘Tragedy’ of the Speaker’s Lawyer: When the Chamber of Advocates Leaves You Without ‘Joy in Life’”, finding that Chapters II and IV of the Kosovo Press Code, which deal with reporting the truth, namely the right to reply, have been violated.
The Press Council of Kosovo has approved the complaint of Kushtrim Reshitaj against Rahoveci24.com for publishing a photograph of a minor and describing him, finding that Chapter VI of the Kosovo Press Code, which deals with reporting on minors, has been violated.
The Press Council of Kosovo has approved Fatjon Bytyqi’s complaint against Sinjali.com for publishing a photograph of a citizen, along with allegations that he is a perpetrator of criminal offenses, finding that Chapter V of the Kosovo Press Code, which deals with the presumption of innocence, has been violated.
The Press Council of Kosovo has partially approved the complaint of the Ministry of Sports and Youth against Nacionale.com, regarding the allegations of the removal of a photograph from the minister’s office, finding that Chapter II of the Kosovo Press Code, which deals with reporting the truth, was partially violated.
The Press Council of Kosovo has not approved (rejected) the complaint of Granit Gojani against Nacionale.com regarding the publication of several articles, finding that chapters II and VII of the Kosovo Press Code, which deal with reporting the truth, respectively the protection of sources and privacy, were not violated, as claimed by the complaining party.
The Press Council of Kosovo has not approved (rejected) the complaint of Ardian Berisha against Buletiniekonomik.com regarding the article entitled “Consultations for ERO ended up with the company of the former director of tariffs”, finding that chapters II and IV of the Kosovo Press Code, which deal with reporting the truth, respectively the right to reply, were not violated, as claimed by the complaining party.
The Press Council of Kosovo has declared inadmissible the complaint of Limi Project LLC and Rinesa LLC against Berat Buzhala, since the Press Council of Kosovo does not have the competence to deal with complaints against individuals, in this case against a journalist.
The Press Council of Kosovo has declared inadmissible the complaint of Adriana Hoxhiq, represented by lawyer Arbër Shala, against the Facebook page “Veriu i Kosovës”, since it does not have the competence to deal with content published on social networks.
