Journalism students and young journalists participated in the workshop “Investigative journalism: techniques, sources and verification process”, organized by the Press Council of Kosovo (PCK) in Prishtina.
The workshop gave the participants the opportunity to analyze investigative sources and develop practical skills for accurate and responsible investigative work through practical examples.
Investigative journalists – trainers at the workshop, Dafina Halili and Besnik Boletini discussed with the participants the process of researching stories, namely research tools and sources.
Halili spoke about her experience in researching two stories, namely the challenges she faced during the process. Halili is more focused on human rights research, so she shared with the participants the work on the stories that dealt with the education of minorities and sexual harassment at the university.
Meanwhile, Boletini discussed his research related to the fields of health, environment and workers’ rights. According to him, a great deal of work on investigative stories is done by searching online, and it is important that within each research, the life of ordinary people, namely the problems they face, is at the center.
The workshop was funded by the European Union (EU) within the framework of the project “Strengthening the Role and Capacities of Investigative Journalism in Kosovo”, which is implemented by BIRN Kosova, PCK and TV Mreža.
