Journalism students and young journalists participated in the workshop “Ethical Reporting in Journalism: Standards, Challenges and Professional Responsibility”, organized by the Kosovo Press Council (KPC).
The discussions focused on four main topics: Ethical Guidelines for Young Journalists in Reporting, Ethics and Disinformation, Ethical Reporting for Elections, and the Work of Journalists and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to discuss concrete cases of ethical violations with Brikenda Rexhepi, Editor-in-Chief of Koha and Chairwoman of KPC, and Alban Zeneli, Professor at the Department of Journalism at the University of Pristina, considering the need for responsible and balanced reporting.
Rexhepi focused on the process of daily reporting, with particular emphasis on the treatment of sources. She also discussed with the students reporting during the election campaign, based on the guidelines for ethical reporting published by the Kosovo Press Council.
Meanwhile, Zeneli focused on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the work of journalists, as a reality that the media is already facing. According to him, AI should be used with caution, based on the Kosovo Press Council’s Code of Ethics.
The activity was funded by the European Union within the framework of the project “Strengthening the role and capacities of investigative journalism in Kosovo”, which is implemented by BIRN Kosovo, the Kosovo Press Council and TV Mrezha.
