Adjudication of Press Council of Kosovo on the complaint of the Information Office of Drenas Municipality against Koha Ditore.
21 May 2010Press Council of Kosovo, in its meeting held on 11 May 2010, adjudicating on the Complaint of the Information Office of Drenas Municipality, versus Koha Ditore newspaper in relation to an article published on 26 April 2010: “Demaku gives there hectars to the Catholic Church of Kosovo without asking anyone” took the following
- To reject the complaint
On 28 April 2010 the Information Office of the Drenas Municipality, filed a complaint against Koha Ditore in relation to an article published on 26 April entitled: “Demaku gives there hectares to the Catholic Church of Kosovo without asking anyone”.
Following the review of the complaint of the Information Office of Drenas Municipality and the content of the article published in Koha Ditore entitled “Demaku gives there hectares to the Catholic Church of Kosovo without asking anyone”, the Board of PCK found that the complaint should be rejected.
The PCK held that the respective newspaper did not act in violation of the Kosovo Press Code, because during the preparation of the article it contacted all parties and it published standpoints of all parties, namely starting from the complainant up to the Kosovo Privatisation Agency (PAK).
The Press Council found that the clarification of the information office of Drenas Municipality does not have to do with the content of the Article published in Koha Ditore, but rather with procedures of land exchange between socially owned land and municipal land, which is an issue related to the PAK and Drenas Municipality.
The Press Council of Kosovo assesses that this does not represent a violation of Article IV of the Press Code of Kosovo: The Right to Reply.Based on the above, the PCK, adjudicated as outlined in the ruling of the present decision .
